NEOPA Members,
Please join your NSEA and NESPA colleagues, and hopefully ALL Northshore school employees, and “WEAR RED FOR ED” on Monday, Nov. 28!
Why?
* Nov. 28 is the first day of the upcoming special session.
* We have already seen approximately $2.5 billion in recent school funding cuts.
* Legislators will be looking for another $1-2 billion in cuts from the state budget in the special session.
* Any additional cuts will tie the hands of education professionals and deprive students of the well-rounded, quality education they deserve.
* Educators across the state are participating in a number of “Day of Action” activities on Nov. 28 to educate the public about how the education funding crisis in Washington is shortchanging our students.
We want to show our solidarity and express concern about additional cuts to Northshore schools on this statewide “Day of Action”. Enough is enough. The cuts are hurting our kids!
What can you do?
* “Wear Red for Ed”:
o Ask and remind all your colleagues to “Wear Red for Ed” on Monday, Nov. 28.
o We are hoping ALL staff will participate!
· We are asking you to wear red and pose with your colleagues for pictures. The time and location of the photo (which is being organized by the NSEA Building Reps) should be posted in your staff lounge by Tuesday noon.

Apppetite For Politics
Do you have an "appetite for politics" -- the process for shaping our community and world?
If you contribute to WEA-PAC or if you joined the effort to elect a School Board that RESPECTS educators, then you are invited to this special gathering.
APPETITE FOR POLITICS
Tuesday, Nov. 15th from 3:30-6:30pm (a short program at 4:15)
What Appetite for Politics IS: A social event for politically-minded NSEA, NESPA, and NEOPA members to meet and talk with others in an informal setting. At our inaugural gathering, we'll discuss the School Board race and what the results mean for us moving forward; the proposed education budget cuts and our Day of Action on Nov. 28th; and any other topics you want to share with others who attend. Appetizers and beverages will be served!
What Appetite for Politics ISN'T: A formal meeting! We won't ask you to do anything except show up, eat, drink, and talk to your like-minded colleagues. We won't have a structured agenda. We will not be endorsing particular political candidates or asking for political contributions.
Where?
The WEA/Cascade UniServ Council Office located at 18704 Bothell Way NE, Ste#101, Bothell, WA -- across from Pop Keeney Field in downtown Bothell.
RSVP:Lydia King at lking@washingtonea.org
Note: Appetizers, wine, ans soft drinks will be served ($1.00 donation requested for wine).
